Vietnam War Era Air Medal Named/ Engraved To Diplomat/ Officer 5x Air Medals. I have done some minor research and i have a possible lead on who it was though i am not postitive. The only person i could find who matches this is Edward Joseph Perkins. 1928-2020. He was a career diplomat who served as the US Amvassador to Liberia, South Africa/the UN/ Australia. He also served 4 years with the USMC in the late 1950s and then went on to serve with the Army! I am not sure of the rank he actually made! Overall a very interesting man who broke race barriers! There are tons of articles that exist about his service though interesting none of them list his military decorations just his department of state decorations! Overall a highly decorated and heroic man! Its the only man who my search yielded so i assume it is right!
The set is complete with the original ribbon w 4 additional awards/ lapel pin/ medal w 4 additional award device which is engraved on the reverse Edward J Perkins. Also included is his original army aircrew wings! Overall a very nice medal set! Everything is in good shape though the case does exhibit minor use and wear! Otherwise a very nice set to an extremely heroic and historic figure! Thanks for looking! Wings are 1/20 silver plate HLP GI marked!
