    Description

    This is a fine, large American antique copper fish poacher with iron handles that comes with its grate. It is in very good condition, is polished, dovetailed, and has new tinning (the grate does not have new tinning). (see photos) It has a supporting iron ring under the rolled rim. It is large - 24” length, without handles; 28” length, with handles; 10” wide; 8 1/2” high; and weighs 13 3/4 pounds. Given its dimensions, it was probably used for additional purposes other than only poaching. Noteworthy and unusual is that  V. CLAD & SONS PHILA is imprinted on 2 sides, AND, J. L GRAND COPPERSMITH WASHINGTON is imprinted on 1 side (see photos). (D.C. is missing with WASHINGTON
    because the stamp was not fully struck). (see photo)  A really formidable piece.
