    Description

This Arts and Crafts Hammered Copper Charger well represents a theme popular in early 1900s decorative ware -- sailboats at sea --  here encircling a classic "S" monogram,  certainly made to order.
The 12-inch tray features 3 single-sail and 3 double-sail boats asea, either applied to the background or cut away (incised) from background  (please use close-up  pics).   In contrast, the one-inch rim is heavy and hammered then transitions into a gadrooned one-inch curved section and further into another pattern of watery or wavy design which surrounds the boats.   Many wonderful textures to be found in one  piece!
Hammered and probably also hand-beaten the charger is brilliant in color, has an original untouched patina, and is substantial.  It weighs a full one pound, one ounce of burnished orange-red copper.   It's 12 inches in diameter by a 1/2 inch deep.  May be American or English.  Unsigned.
Altho there are no scratches or small dings there is a bump out on the bottom left of "S" (see pic) about 2 3/4 inches long by 1 inch wide.  Can probably be restored  but I displayed on easel and it wasn't distracting.
